Hege German Pink Tomato
Here German Pink tomato is an 8-18 ounce fruit. They are mild and delicious, perfect for those wanting a pink tomato with less of a acidic finish. Plants were tall and vibrant, producing big crops of oblate fruits that began to ripen around mid season. Vibrant plants demonstrated good disease resistance. This is another awesome sandwich/BLT variety that can also be great for market sales, slicing, cooking and more. Will be growing these again! 80 Days to first ripened fruits! -
Aunt Ginny's Purple Tomato
There is so much that I can say about this German variety, but I will start with its dependability. If you need a tomato that's going to produce for you, even in tough conditions, Aunt Ginny's Purple tomato is a great choice! Ripened fruits are deep pink and can reach one pound. Ours averaged 10-14 ounces. Taste is rich, and sweeter, with excellent texture. Mildly acidic. I love these so much! Plants are potato leafed and about 6 feet tall. One of the last varieties to make it to first frost this year. There were still tons of green ones on the plants after frost. -
Taiga Tomato
Karen Olivier has done it again! Her Taiga tomato made big waves in our garden in 2020. I just can't believe how beautiful and tasty these are! 6-12 ounce oxhearts are produced on tall potato leafed plants that start ripening around mid season(75-80 days). Give them a chance to ripen well, then cut and taste. You will find that these are a little fruity, juicy, have lots of nicely textured meat and are delicious! Deceptively weighty, there aren't too many seeds in this gem. Plants are very hardy and are recommended for northern gardens too! Awesome selection for slicing, sandwiches, garnish, cooking or just eating right of the vine. -
Pepe Jose Tomato
Pepe Jose tomato is a rare, large variety that caught me by surprise this year! In 2020 I had many of these that reached 2 pounds and more! When these started coming on, I was surprised how much they produced for such large fruits. Seeds were shared with me by my friend Terry at Secret Seed Cartel in France! These gorgeous fruits are relatively crack free. Taste is really old fashioned, balanced, with very nice texture. Sandwich ready! Plants were 6 feet and taller and produced all season. You would love these if you love growing huge tomatoes! Making a return in our garden next year! Recommended! -
True Black Brandywine Tomato
One of my new favorites, I first grew True Black Brandywine tomato in 2020. Because it carries the Brandywine name, I expect it to be excellent, and it was! The 5 feet tall, potato plants, produced a nice amount of 10 ounce, deep brown fruits. They were pretty and mostly blemished free. Aroma on fully ripened fruits were fantastic. I made some awesome fresh salsa with these! I also made some super tomato sandwiches with True Black Brandywine. Maria Amazileties Giant Red Tomato
Looking for a big, meaty, high producing oxheart variety that can be used for sandwiches, sauces, cooking and more? Try Maria Amazileties Giant Red tomato. This tomato wouldn't let you down! One pound, blunt hearts are meaty and tasty, with top of the line old fashion flavor. Fabulous balance and superb tomato aroma when fully ripened. Plants are high producing for such a large fruit, so please stake them early! These will begin ripening around 8 days from transplant and continue until frost. The perfect all purpose tomato! I Love, Love, Love these! -
Red Lithium Tomato
Wow! Talk about pretty! Red Lithium tomato is a prolific producer of some of the prettiest bi-colored, red with yellow/gold striped tomatoes. A bee cross from Lithium Sunset in Fred Hempel's garden, then stabilized by Marsha Eisenberg in Florida, ours averaged 5 -10 ounces. Plants were about 4-5 feet tall and showed really good disease resistance. These were forward mildly sweet, with good balance and flavorful. Nice texture too! A juicy tomato, they were great snacks in the garden! Get your baskets ready, Red Lithium tomatoes are going to fill them up many times over! Plants will need some staking! Red Lithium tomatoes began ripening around day 76 after transplant. -
Red Barn Tomato
When Joe Bratka found his father's old seeds in a an old tool shed, he found tomato gold! If you love great tasting BLT sandwiches, Red Barn tomato would be a great place to start. This was one of my favorite sandwich makers in 2020. I absolutely loved that they were perfect sandwich size, weighing in about 1 pound. Many were bigger but most averaged about one pound. Deep red tomatoes on good producing, regular leafed vines, start ripening about 80 days after transplant. Fruits are mostly clean. Plants need to be properly staked. These can be a great market or main crop tomato. Taste is well balanced and old fashion without any complexities. Just a straight up, darn good, ole mater! Will be a regular for me from now on! -
PPP X PP"C" Tomato
PPP X PP"C" tomato is a mid-sized, wonderful black variety that averages 10 ounces. Flavor is very rich, with complex balanced taste of sweet and tart. A full flavored variety, you will like this one! Potato leafed plants produce a good amount of fruits, which, when transplanted in early May, begin to ripen in mid July. So it's about a 80 day fruition from transplant. Plants are about 6 feet tall and vibrant. I would say that this tomato is one of the better black varieties I have experienced in many years! I accidentally planted twice as many plants in 2020 and did not regret it. These plants produced so many tomatoes I could share a lot! Good disease resistance and they mind heat! Aroma is fantastic! Everyone should grow some of these! -
Olive Hill Tomato
Olive Hill Tomato is a deep pink, large beefsteak with excellent flavor. Originating in Kentucky USA, most of our fruits were in the one pound (16 ounce) range. Potato leafed plants are around 6 feet tall and produce a plenty. These will need extra support. Flavor is old fashioned, rich and balanced. Clean, blemished free fruits! A great choice to do whatever you wish. I had a couple of these in the garden, excellent! Made many sandwiches with these too, always great! Another one that I will grow again in 2021. -
Lenny's And Gracie's Kentucky Heirloom Tomato
As I have stated before, 2020 was a year when we grew some of the most wonderful varieties. Lenny's And Gracie's Kentucky Heirloom tomato is one of those. For me, this tomato was unforgettable for more than one reason. First, I was very pleased with the taste. Also, production was excellent! The plants just kept pumping them out! We harvested many, many of these! Plants were very hardy and produced all season long, with minimal signs of diseases. My favorite part was tasting them. These are very inviting! Taste is fruity, mild and sweet with good balance. Canary yellow fruits with pink blushed bottoms, are blemish free and regularly approach one pound. I would say average weight is 12 ounces to 1 pound. So these are nice and big. A really nice choice for sandwiches, slicing, market sales and more. So happy I was introduced to this one! Will be growing again next year! -
Van Wert Ohio Tomato
A very useful and delicious variety, Van Wert Ohio tomato is a heavy producer of mid sized red and blemished free fruits. The plants seemed to have held on to every bloom and began to ripen about 75 days after being transplant into the garden. What I really loved about this variety was its disease resistance. It was one of the very best this year. Taste is old fashion, balanced and very pleasing. A very nice all purpose variety for situations such as cooking, sandwiches, slicing, market sales and even sauces. Check these out and try a few plants in your next garden! 5-7 ounces -
Kozula 72 Tomato
We have grown quite a few varieties in the Kozula series. Only a very few have made it to our seed store. Kozula 72 tomato is, to this point, one of my personal favorites. Good producing, regular leafed plants, give plenty, though not prolific. Bi-colored fruits are green with purple blushing when fully ripened. These are rich tasting, fruity and sweeter with good balance. Good choice for plating, snacking, sandwiches and even cooking. This tomato reminds me a bit of Ananas Noire. Will definitely be making regular returns to our lineup. -
Kolb Tomato
When I first saw images of Kolb tomato, I thought that they were highly photoshopped. Upon growing them myself, I discovered that they looked just like the pictures. These are some of the prettiest pink tomatoes that I have ever grown. Additionally, they are really good tasting. Large, oblate fruits, are around one pound and often bigger, mildly sweet and well balanced! Really pleasurable experience in a big tomato. Six feet tall plants are good producers too! These are great sandwich tomatoes and can easily be a main crop for market vendors. I really like that they are clean and mostly blemish-free. These wouldn't be mistaken for anything else in your garden, very clean and unique pink. Perfect all purpose variety, but stands out on a tomato sandwich with its old fashioned taste. Get ready for some beauties! -
Gary'O Sena Tomato
Blessed with outstanding flavor and super production, Gary'O Sena is a beautifully blended combination of Brandywine and Cherokee Purple, its parents. It's actually one of the best black tomatoes that I have tasted in a long time. Ours ripened pretty early too! Its breeder, Keith Mueller, did a wonderful job with this one! Potato leafed plants are huge producers of 6-14 ounce fruits that are clean and blemish-free. Perfect market variety if you are a vendor, and even more perfect for sandwiches! Even I, as a big tomato grower, has found it difficult to think about a lot of better black tomatoes. This is also an outstanding choice for sandwiches or just fresh eating. One of my top choices for 2020. If you haven't grown these, you must! -
Buckeye Yellow Tomato
What a wonderful treat in 2020. Buckeye Yellow tomato was one of the standouts in 2020. 8-14 oz fruits are very delicious and inviting. These, here in zone 5, begin ripening to a beautiful canary yellow with a pink blush after 75 days. This one is a definite keeper. Tall indeterminate plants produce prolifically and throughout the season until frost. Our plants remained healthy and did well without much tending to. This, without a doubt, is an excellent main crop variety, market variety and also awesome multi purpose use. Slice some up for a sandwich or just have one off of the vine. You will love it! -
Kozula 136 Tomato
Kozula 136 tomato is always one of the first that comes to my mind when I recall the 2020 season. These took me totally by surprise! Very prolific plants produce up to 20 ounce fruits. These are clean, mostly crack free and a pleasure to grow. When fully ripened, they are the most beautiful bi-color shades of orange and yellows. A real treat for the eyes. But it's their production which is truly the treat. These just keep producing and producing all the way until frost. Perfect variety for plating, garnishing, excellent market choice, sandwich treat and so much more! Flavor profile is sweet and fruity with little tartness! Our plants were about 5.5 feet tall. I love this one and you will too! -
Alexander B Tomato
Another on of my 2020 surprises, Alexander B, a rarely grown variety, was a true standout in our garden this year. Four to eight ounce fruits are very clean, blemish-free, tasty and satisfying. Seeds for these were shared with me by a friend, and I am so happy that she did. Indeterminate 5-6 feet tall plants are prolific, have many clusters of 4-6 fruits and keep producing all season long. These are sweeter and exceptionally smooth, with good balance. Texture is superb and they make perfect slicers. Great for sandwiches and fresh eating. For me, this variety is a new go-to for market sales and so much more. This is one to love! -
West Virginia Sweetmeat Tomato
West Virginia Sweetmeat tomato is an Amish variety that can easily reach 2.5 pounds. In fact, about 10% of earlier fruits reached and surpassed that mark. A few were 3 pounds or more! Healthy, regular leafed plants, are hard working and produce quite nicely, though not prolific. Production was very pleasing and nonstop until season's end. The flavor is sweet, very rich and delicious. Texture was also very good. Plants MUST be staked properly, with some extra support for individual fruits where needed. Expect your first ripened fruit out 80 days after transplant. A great choice for sandwiches and so much more! If you love them huge with good flavor, this one's for you! -
Dwarf Mystic Lady Tomato
Easily in my top 3 dwarf varieties for 2019, Dwarf Mystic Lady tomato will remain a staple in our gardens. 6-10 ounce fruits are a very pretty shade of pink and are sweeter with some beautiful complimentary flavors. Texture is smooth! A nice tomato experience! Our plants were about 3 feet tall and produced plenty fruits. These are perfect snackers, for sandwiches, on a platter/garnish and things along that line. Expect you first ripened fruits around day 75! In smaller gardens or containers, Dwarf varieties tend to will do well. -
Dwarf CC McGee Tomato
Dwarf CC McGee tomato was my dwarf winner in 2019. Big fruits just kept on coming! Potato leaf, rugose leafed plants were as hardy as you could possibly get. Ours grew to about 3.5 feet tall. Most of our fruits were between six and eight ounces. A few were slightly bigger or smaller. Tomatoes were oblate and a light shade of yellow, or perhaps ivory. Taste was very good, sweet and tart, but in perfect balance, slightly fruity and satisfying. I am definitely growing these wonderful dwarf cultivar again! Great for small gardens or container growing! -
Mulatte Dwarf Tomato
Mulatte Dwarf tomato is a good producing and very tasty variety. Chocolate/bronze colored fruits can weigh 10 ounces, but most average 5-8. Plants are about 3 feet tall, yet need staking. Our fruits are usually sweet and have rich complex flavor. Texture is excellent, especially on a sandwich. Fruits begin to ripen about 75 days after transplant. Mulatte Dwarf can do well in larger containers or small gardens. Perfect as a snack, for garnish, cooking, slicing on a platter and also for market sales. A very good choice if you like rich tasting tomatoes! -
Mrs Schlaubaugh's Famous Strawberry
If you want a meaty oxheart that will sit great on a tomato sandwich, yet make wonderful, rich sauce, then you should try Mrs Schlaburgh's Famous Strawberry tomato. With this variety what you see is what you get! And that is meat and more meat. This sweet, full-flavored oxheart will blow you away! Plants are taller and wispy, but very hardy. They produce a nice crop of uniformed oxhearts that can weigh up to one pound, but averages 8-12 ounces. Perfect size for a sandwiches, Mr's Schlaburgh's also works well as a slicing type, for cooking, canning and more. Great market variety. Try these if you haven't yet! -
Belle Arlesienne Tomato
Belle Arlesienne Tomato is a rare and tasty French variety. I am certainly happy that I grew these out! Nicely textured fruits are between 6 and 10 ounces, are sweet with forward taste and have very interesting secondary flavors. Only one of our plants made it because of severe flooding in 2o19, but I am so happy that it did, because I really like this one. Next year 2020, I will be growing out many more plants. Belle Arlesienne has a good texture and wonderful aroma. Nice slicing variety. Overall pleasing variety. I especially appreciate that in a rare sort! Seed Source: Gatersleben France, # LYC 93. -
African Beefsteak Tomato
A true taster, African Beefsteak tomato is a full flavored variety that veers on the sweeter side. More mild than strong, this variety would be a great addition to any beefsteak garden. Fruits are 10-16 ounces. Plants produce plenty, but not prolifically. Disease resistance is very good and plants are about five to six feet tall.. These make great sandwiches and slicing tomatoes. A nice selection for market sales also. Stake well and early and you will be well rewarded! -
Wisconsin 55 Tomato
One of the sturdiest producers that we grew in 2019, Wisconsin 55 tomato will be a repeat grow for sure. Clean, juicy fruits are not mushy, rather they have very nice texture. These are great for tomato juice, salads canning and more. A good all purpose tomato. I love cooking with them, they make really good stew. This is a hard-working variety that will do well in heat or wet conditions, workhorse! Crack resistant, with high disease resistance. Try some! -
Great Bear Tomato
This is another one of my favorites for 2019. Great Bear tomato is just what the doctor ordered. Delicious pink beefsteaks can weigh 1.5 pounds but most of ours were about 1 pound. I love the texture of this tomato. It's smooth and very inviting. When sliced, Great Bear delivers a very good experience. I like my tomatoes thinly sliced, but this one I like thick. When to comes to taste, it's simple. Old fashioned, full-flavored and well balanced. Plants are vibrant and about 6 feet tall. If you like really great tasting beefsteaks, try this one. You will not regret it!
