John Henry Tomato was introduced to me by a friend in PA. He talked highly about its taste. When we grew it out, we found that he was correct. It was a meaty and delicious fruit. A paler pink exterior sneakily hid what was on its interior. When well ripened, John Henry is like a tropical fruit, not in taste, but in texture. It has nice balance! Everything about it screams sandwich! That's the only way that I have tried it. Delicious to the very last bite. This tomato makes some very nice slices that will work great on a platter. Russe tomato was a standout for us in 2018. It is an excellent and meaty beefsteak variety. Plants produce a high number of 10-16 ounce fruits that keep coming all season long. fruits. That's not all, it has outstanding old fashioned flavor that will keep you coming back for more. We used it for almost anything we made, but it really shined when paired with two slices of bread. This is tomato just loved sandwiches. Indeterminate plants were hardy, even in a tough tomato year. Our first ripened fruits appeared around the 80 day mark. Good old fashioned, balanced tomato flavor! Stake well and get ready! -
A delightful oxheart is how I would describe King Kong tomato. Pretty, red oxheart fruits are borne on wispy leaved plants that can reach 6 feet tall. Fruits are on the sweet side, have tons of meat, a bit fruity, have old fashioned appeal and are clean with few cracks. Our vines were prolific, producing many bunches of 5-7 fruits that averaged 4-12 ounces. Plants kept producing all season long! In fact, they were some of the last do wither! This a great sandwich and sauce tomato. Also good for market sales if you are a tomato vendor. Eat many off the vine, Yumm! -
Donskoi tomato is a very large beefsteak that could create your record breaking fruits. Our largest were well over two pounds and smallest about 1.5 pounds. But we did not grow it for size only. It was recommend to us because of its taste. I did like it a lot! Donskoi is meaty, balanced, flavorful and surprisingly good for its large size. I never got around to making sandwiches with these, but there is no doubt they will shine in this application. Plants demonstrated good disease resistance and ripened their fruits around 87 days after transplant. A great choice if you love them large and delicious! See It On YouTube. -
In 2018 we did not grow many gigantic varieties. Of the ones we did grow(about 8 or so), Brutus Magnum was perhaps the most consistently large. Fruits averaged between 1.5 - 2.3 lbs. At times we really struggle with vine upkeep. A few tomatoes became too heavy for their plants and broke themselves off. That was offset by good production, so we still got plenty fruits from just 4 plants. Brutus Magnum is a clean variety. Most tomatoes did not have cracks. Very meaty and evenly balanced taste. This one need early, consistent and proper staking! Great sandwich tomato! 88 Days! -
Need yellow flavorful meat? Try Marina Doohov tomato. From the same breeder who gave us Blue Pear Eugenia and a few others, this tomato is visually appealing with super taste. This Ukrainian variety has it all! An oxheart, you will not be disappointed when you grow these out. In addition, it will turn heads in your garden. When sliced, Marina Doohov is almost all meat with very few cavities and seeds. We had to work hard to preserve seeds for offering. Well ripened, fruits have a fine aroma that reminds me cherries or peaches. A bit of that aroma carries over to its taste. make yourself a great sandwich and some nice yellow sauce with these! Foxnose tomato is a first time grow-out for us in 2018. We were very pleased who the results. True to the oxheart family, this variety produces very tasty, deep yellow oxhearts. They will keep you eating all season long. Many of our fruits are over 16 ounces but they averaged between 10-12. Vines are skinny and tall and loaded from bottom to top. This variety is very clean and crack-free, an advantage if you want to sell them. Foxnose tomatoes in your garden or on your tomato stand will turn heads. These are great for sandwiches, sauces, snacking and more. Tasty and memorable! -
I never have to take notes whenever I grow Rose tomato. This is because it has etched in my mind its remarkable assets. It's aways in my top choices for beefsteak tomatoes. Rose is meaty, prolific, flavorful, almost blemish free and consistent. I could go on and on, but I would leave some of it's fine qualities for you to talk about when you grow it. Rose tomatoes have outstanding balance. They are sweet but not too much, rich with slight acidity. If your quest is to find an outstanding beefsteak, this is certainly one. I also highly recommend it as a main crop tomato. It has done wonderfully for me through the years. hardy plants. Customers love it! Recommended! -
If you like delicious red tomatoes, then Sugar Bison tomato is one for you to consider. Each year I keep a mental and written record of tomatoes that I've really enjoyed. For Sugar Bison, I never had to consult my written record because it was outstanding in my mind. 10-16 ounce beefsteaks are perfectly balanced, with good old time tomato flavors. this one fits perfectly on a tomato sandwich. Vines are taller and hardy. They produce a nice amount of fruits that begin to ripen around 82 days after transplant. A good market/main crop variety. I recommend this one! -
Looking for a unique and rare tomato with plenty appeal? Reinhard Kraft's Green Heart tomato could be the one. As far as I know, it's only one of a few green oxheart beefsteaks. This gem is all meat and no bones. Very dense, 8-16 ounce oxhearts ripen green and just pop with flavor. A great place for anyone to start if they have never tasted a green when ripened tomato. True to the oxheart family, RKGH is flavorful and very tasty. This is a great choice for sandwiches, fresh eating, sauces, and more. They are a little bit late though. Our first ripened fruits came in around 85 days, but I promise you, the wait was well worth it! Recommended! -

Original Italian tomato is a very meaty variety that will do great for sandwiches, sauces and fresh eating. It's a real old fashion heirloom variety for which I was gifted seeds by an acquaintance. I am so that I grew these out in 2018, because it was one of my favorite sandwiches tomatoes this year. Larger fruits are pleasantly pink on the outside and a very deep pink inside when fully ripened. I recommend this tomato for anyone's sandwiches. Meaty, dense, flavorful and well balanced, is how I will describe it. Vines are between 6 and 8 feet tall and produce many nice sized, beefsteak fruits. Expect first ripened fruits about 80 days after transplant. Stake well! -
Owens purple tomato is a very nice tasting, black variety. I especially love that plants are hardy and show great disease resistance in our gardens. Fruits are darker colored like Black Krim, and weigh between 6 and 16 ounces. Most of ours were around 10-14. Fruits are borne on clusters of 3-5 and begin to ripen about 75 days after transplant. Perfectly balanced, this gem will delight you with it's richness. It also has some earthiness and some acidity but it all evens out with other complimentary flavors. This is a very good tomato. Perfect for sandwiches, cooking, fresh salsa garnish and more. A great choice for any tomato garden -
Altai Orange Tomato has everything: taste, beauty, production and disease resistance are all there. This nice sized fruit can reach 1 pound. Most of ours were in the 10-16 ounce range. What I totally loved was that it was as early as many cherries. In fact, I can't remember anything, except Dwarf Lucky Leprechaun, ripening before this one. Our first ripened fruits came around 65-70 days after transplant. Fruits are the most beautiful, orange/yellow and grow in clusters of 3 to 5. Its texture is smooth, balanced and satisfying. Vines are around 6 feet tall and produce nonstop all season long. Altai Orange has easily moved up my list. It's one of my new favorites! See it on YouTube -
Some people say that Carbon tomato is perhaps the best black tomato there is. I say, it's pretty close. Certainly, it's one to be reckoned with! It's not often that I am blown away by the taste of a tomato. Carbon had that effect on me. Before I forget, let me say that some of the best sandwiches that I have had were with these. Carbon is a full flavored tomato that is rich, balanced and excessively good. Our plants were about 5 feet tall in full sunlight. They produced plenty 8-12 ounce fruits that are delightful. A MUST GROW for any garden! -
I've grown some pretty dwarf varieties in my time, but dwarf Egypt Yellow tomato is among the prettiest. It's not fancy colored, just a very clean canary yellow, that will melt your heart. After your heart has been melted, your tastebuds will follow! This tomato is as delicious as it's pretty. Dwarf Egypt Yellow has superb texture and good balance. Milder and sweet with a hint of fruit is how I would describe it! Plants are "Tree like". Ours were about 3 feet tall in full sunlight and produced very well. Fruits were consistently around 12 ounces and were available until late in the season. Perfect for sandwiches, sauces, slicing, fresh eating, garnishing and more. Recommended! -

Welcome to Fishlake Oxheart tomato. it is one of the most delicious tomatoes that you may ever experience. This 6-10 ounce fruit ripens to a pale pink exterior, but have really deep pink interior that is full of meat and bursting with flavor. It has nice balance too. TC Jones tomato was definitely one of our surprised in 2018. I sometimes have a slight suspicion about light yellow or white tomatoes, but this one totally caught me off guard. It was so flavorful that it will certainly be grown next year, with market sales in mind too! 12-16 ounce fruits never kept coming all year and disease resistant plants just kept giving. Fruits were born on nice sized clusters of 4 or 5 and began to ripen about 82 days after transplant. These are sandwich perfect! But they also worked very well for some nice fresh tomato sauce. Try them and you will be amazed! -
I am so happy that I discovered Anna's Kentucky tomato. This 8-18 ounce tomato ripens to a nice deep pink and packs surprisingly smooth and pleasant flavor. Plants are relatively tall and produce clusters of three to four fruits that begin to ripen around the 80 day mark after transplant. I also found that plants showed good disease resistance. In our gardens, they have produced well into fall. These are perfect for sandwiches, slicing, cooking and more. Flander's Contrast tomato is very unique in its looks. The green version of Blue Pear, this beauty is certainly a head-turner. Pear shaped fruits with antho tops, display varying levels of darkness. They begin to ripen about 72 days after transplant. Vines are about 6 feet tall and never stop producing until frosts. Fruits are mildly sweet, juicy and have a really good texture. Staking is essential because plants are relatively skinny.This is certainly a fine tomato for fresh salsa, garnishing, dehydrating, tomato juice and tons more. Try eating some straight off of the vine, very pleasing! Definitely worth growing! -
Maiden's Fire Tomato is truly a wonderful tomato. As far as looks, it's a stunner and will definitely turn heads in your garden. But this tomato does not have just looks. It is a very good tasting tomato with delightful balance. 6-14 ounce fruits ripen a beautiful pink and yellow bi-color that actually looks like beautiful flames. Fruits are sweetish with a hint of acidity, but nothing is too much. It's just right! Plants are prolific about 5 feet tall and have shown good disease resistance in our garden. Staking is necessary! You can expect your first ripened tomatoes around the 75 day mark. -

This dark colored, beautiful and blemish-free fruit will blow you away with its production. Plant are not too tall (perhaps 4-5 feet) and produce many clusters of 4 or 5 8-16 ounce fruits. When it comes to outstanding tomatoes, it would be hard to find many green when ripened varieties that are better than Green Giant tomato. Large, oblate, green fruits can reach more than one pound but average 12-16 ounces. This perfect sandwich variety is always very high on our list. Plants are tall and have potato leaves. Ours always display good disease resistance and produce until fall. Green Giant is a great producer too, bearing plenty clusters of 3 or 4 fruits that begin to ripen about 85 days after transplant. 75 - 80 Days. Kitayskiy Velikan Tomato is a large beefsteak type that packs great taste. Tall, prolific vines are packed with many fruits that ripen about 78 days after transplant. it is excessively prolific for a large variety. It's not unusual to to have vines with everything over 1 pound. Our largest have been around one pound and fourteen ounces. Fruits are meaty, sweeter, aromatic and well balanced. Truly a nice all-purpose tomato. Recommended! -
Sylvan Guame is a large, red, beefsteak tomato that grows on very productive vines. It is meaty and sweet with old-time tomato taste. Its vines are thick, sprawling, and strong, and need to be staked well. Even though this is a larger tomato, you can expect your first ripened fruits at around 75 days continuing through Fall. Perfect selection for sandwiches, but truly, you can do anything with a Sylvan Guame tomato.
