Bloody Butcher Tomato

75-Days. Bloody Butcher Tomato is a little ping pong ball sized fruit that ripens deep red and grows on potato leaf vines. Fruits are balanced, tasty and on the sweeter side. This one has a good amount of real tomato juice. I especially like the hardiness of this one. Vines just blow through any disease and continue producing clusters of 5-7 tomatoes until frost. Great little snacking and salsa tomato. Caning works well too!

I got seeds from Curtis years ago, and must say, while it is not the tastiest of tomatoes in my opinion, it is still good. I have to disagree with Curtis–mine were very early, the earliest of all. I found an unplanted plant while cleaning up the garden (it got watered by default as it was in a tray with a bunch of snap dragons I rescued from the garbage from a big box store) and I decided to plant it on the Fourth of July. It was barely six inches tall when I planted it in a sixteen inch planter. It practically grew before my eyes–and I had good (not excellent but good) tomatoes by the August 17th. It was the last planted (I only had that one that year, as I sell plants through my Master Gardener group and it is very popular because it is early) but the first to ripen. I plant the first two weeks of June. I can say that in my zone 5A I can count on this to be ripe in around fifty to sixty days. I use fish emulsion fertilizer.
